Portfolio Library

Find, inspect, organize, edit, and create Studies from saved Portfolios.

Use Portfolio Library

Portfolio Library is where you find and manage saved Portfolios. A Portfolio combines one or more saved Strategy Configurations and defines how they share capital, position capacity, risk, and exposure.

A saved Portfolio is a reusable definition. It does not contain a Dataset, date range, starting balance, execution mode, or completed result. Those choices belong to the Study you create from the Portfolio.

Before you create a Portfolio

Each member must be a saved Strategy Configuration. A Configuration records the Strategy version and its chosen parameter values. Saving a Strategy by itself is not enough because the Portfolio needs an exact, runnable set of settings for every member.

If the Configuration you need is missing, open Strategies, select the Strategy, and save a Configuration before returning to Portfolio.

Find a saved Portfolio

Open Portfolio -> Portfolio Library. Use search and groups to narrow the table, then select a Portfolio to open its Inspector.

The table summarizes:

ColumnMeaning
PortfolioIts name and number of saved Strategy Configurations.
AdmissionHow competing entries are resolved.
Shared cashWhether the members draw from one capital pool.
Position capThe maximum number of open positions across the Portfolio.
UpdatedWhen the saved Portfolio was last changed.

Groups and labels organize the Library only. Moving a Portfolio between groups does not change its members, rules, saved versions, Studies, or Results.

Read the Inspector

The Inspector shows the selected Portfolio's current saved version, allocation method, admission method, shared-capital state, position cap, base risk, gross exposure limit, and Configuration allocation.

Each Configuration entry identifies the exact saved Configuration used by the Portfolio. It also shows its priority, weight, and risk multiplier. These values describe how the members compete for Portfolio capacity; they do not predict how often a Strategy will trade or how much it will earn.

Use the version value when you need to confirm that a Study or Result used the same Portfolio definition. Matching names alone is not enough after a Portfolio has been edited.

Create a Portfolio

  1. Open the Composer tab.
  2. Enter a name, identifier, and optional description.
  3. Add at least one saved Strategy Configuration.
  4. Choose Priority Order or Fixed Weights.
  5. Review shared-capital, admission, position, risk, and exposure limits.
  6. Resolve every item under Portfolio checks.
  7. Select Save Portfolio.

See Portfolio Composer for every field and rule.

Edit an existing Portfolio

Select the Portfolio and choose Edit. The Composer opens with the current members and policies.

Saving a functional change creates a new Portfolio version. Existing Studies and Results remain attached to the version they used; they are not rewritten to use the newest settings. This lets you change a Portfolio without changing the meaning of earlier work.

Create a Study

Select Create Study from the Inspector, or open the Composer and use Create Study after saving. Arizmic carries the selected Portfolio and its exact saved version into Study Design.

Study Design is where you choose the Dataset bindings, time window, starting capital, execution settings, and any supported values you want to compare. The Portfolio remains the composition and shared-policy definition; the Study defines the test.

Continue in Portfolio Study Design, then review the completed work under Results.

Delete a Portfolio

Use Delete Portfolio only when the definition is no longer needed. Arizmic must block deletion when another retained object still depends on it. Deleting a Portfolio must not silently delete or rewrite a Study, Result, or saved Strategy Configuration.

If deletion is blocked, keep the Portfolio or remove the dependent object through its owning section after confirming that its retained history is no longer required.

Troubleshooting

  • No Portfolios are listed: open Composer and create one from saved Strategy Configurations.
  • A Strategy is missing from the Configuration picker: save a Strategy Configuration first. The Portfolio does not use an unsaved Strategy draft.
  • The Inspector shows an older version than a Result: the Result remains pinned to the version used when it ran. Do not relabel it as current.
  • Create Study is unavailable: save the Portfolio, resolve its checks, and make sure there are no unsaved Composer changes.
  • Search returns no rows: clear the search text and group filter.
  • Delete is blocked: another saved object still references the Portfolio.
