What System Settings is for

System Settings controls local storage, Job scheduling, workstation connectivity, shared assumptions, display preferences, and diagnostics. Each section shows the scope of its effect. Read that scope before saving: some changes apply immediately, while others affect only future Jobs.

Review the System Profile

The System Profile summarizes logical CPU cores, physical and available memory, free space on the Results disk, and the measured read/write profile. Refresh or retest the local IO profile after changing drives or storage configuration.

These values are a current snapshot. Available memory and disk space change as other software and Jobs run.

Check the workstation connection

API / Workstation Connection shows whether the desktop UI and its local workstation process agree. Use Check Workstation when freshness is unknown or a page appears stale. If the launcher reports a stale process, use the offered update or reconnect action rather than starting a second unmanaged workstation process.

Choose application and Prepared Data storage

Application Storage identifies the local application-data location. Confirm the resolved path and storage-integrity result after changing it.

Prepared Data Storage controls automatic cache eviction and its high and low watermarks. The high watermark starts eligible eviction; the low watermark is the target at which it stops. Keep the stop value below the start value and leave enough free space for active work and temporary files.

Eviction affects reusable Prepared Data according to the product's retention rules. It must not be treated as deleting source files, Datasets, or retained Results.

Configure Jobs and Workers

Use Jobs and Workers to set:

• whether eligible queued work starts automatically;
• whether desktop completion or failure notifications are enabled;
• the maximum number of active Jobs; and
• the worker cap available to future Jobs.

Higher limits are not always faster. They can increase memory pressure and storage contention. Apply a conservative value, run a representative workload, and inspect Jobs and the System Profile before increasing it.

Set shared assumptions and display

Research Assumptions contains defaults such as the annual risk-free rate. They apply to future work that adopts the default. Changing one does not rewrite a saved Study, Strategy, Portfolio, or Result.

App Display controls timezone and timestamp precision. These settings change how time is presented, not the stored instant. Use one clear timezone when comparing logs, provider events, and support records.

Download diagnostics safely

The Diagnostics section summarizes readiness, queue counts, and workstation freshness. Download the JSON only when you need to investigate a problem. Review it before sharing and remove secrets, account details, private paths, or proprietary identifiers that are not required for the support case.
