What this tab is for

Catalog is the home for the Datasets available to the workstation. Open it to find a Dataset, understand what it contains, and decide whether it is suitable for the Study you want to run.

Find and inspect a Dataset

Use search and groups to narrow the list, then select a Dataset to inspect it. The inspector is where you check the things that change the meaning of a result:

• the instrument, venue, timezone, and trading session;
• the records and date coverage that are actually present;
• the source and import history; and
• any reported issues or downstream use.

Before starting a Study, confirm that the Dataset matches the market, period, and level of detail your strategy needs. A large file or a long date range does not by itself make the data appropriate for the question.

Versions and activation

A Dataset is an exact imported version, not a moving "latest" file. When an import creates a candidate version, review it before making it active. New Studies use the active version for that Dataset family; existing Results keep their link to the exact version they used.

Use a new version when the source, mapping, market identity, or other material meaning changes. Use append coverage only when the new records are compatible with the existing Dataset. Catalog also lets you organize the local list with groups and labels without changing the underlying market data.

Open related work

From a Dataset, open related Prepared Data when you need to inspect reusable inputs or storage use. Start a Study only after the Dataset details match the strategy and execution question. Catalog is the source-data view; use Results to interpret performance.

Remove data carefully

Read the confirmation before deleting a Dataset or changing its active version. A removal can affect derived Prepared Data and whether later work can be rerun. Historical Results may remain visible, but they cannot recreate data that is no longer available locally.
